Carb phobia is real as many of you ask me: are carbs bad for weight loss at many occasions, despite the fact that my coaching does not revolve on the nutrition aspect per se.
Mind you, I am currently finishing my Precision Nutrition certification (and I’ll be very excited to give more tangible nutrition tips to my existing clients), but my approach will remind MINDSET, because it all begins on how we THINK about food, exercise and ourselves!
Here’s why this question of whether carbs are bad for weight loss is tricky, from a mindset perspective…
So many of you come see me stressing out about carbs and how they are hurting your weight loss progress, and how evil they are.
And I believe all these thoughts are causing you a lot of unnecessary stress that isn’t helping you make the clearer and healthier food choices.
Here’s the thing you need to know about mindset (and this is perhaps the secret to the universe!):
Whatever you focus your attention on, grows and ends up becoming VERY important.
So think about it: you are constantly trying to ELIMINATE or ERADICATE or FIGHT carbs, and in the process you end up craving them more.
This type of questioning makes you spend WAY too much energy mentally stressing about what you “don’t want” and THINKING about it.
Listen… refined carbs and overly processed sugars and flours are definitely NOT the most conducive foods for weight loss.
However… every time you start mentally pushing against a certain food, or you start making it the VILLAIN in your story, you start stressing yourself out for no reason and you end up feeling disempowered.
The more you believe that certain foods are BAD from almost a “moral” standpoint, the more drama (and more craving) your brain will have…
Think about it: most of our brains totally act like teenagers a lot of the time (even mine throws me tantrums sometimes, despite having a daily practice of mindset hygiene!).
The more you tell yourself you “shouldn’t” do something, the more your brain wants you to do that exact thing.
I guess rebellion is the nature of our brain. So use this piece of information wisely.
